I really thought we would be working right on up to the weekend of Christmas. At least, that’s what I had in my planner. But last week, as I gazed at the calendar and calculated in my head all the things that had to happen before Christmas, I realized that it was definitely time for a break. The kids need it and so do I, so we are discontinuing our formal studies until after New Year’s Day.
In the meantime, I plan to spend time enjoying my family and the season. I have vowed not to think about what my homeschool plans are until next week (at the earliest). A little while back, my daughter pointed out to me that I pretty much live, sleep, and dream homeschooling. She was right---I need to break out of my homeschool cell for a bit.
Tomorrow, I will be making candy, baking, wrapping presents, and hanging out with my loved ones. I haven’t been taking enough pictures of these people lately---they are all getting so mature and the time just seems to be slipping away. I look in the mirror and see a self that is older than I remember being, but it matches the aches the cold weather brings.
I want to do some creative projects and think about what my personal goals are for 2017.
