This Blog is An Archive And Has Not Been Updated Since 2018

9.27.2021: Google very recently changed drive links for security reasons, so you may find that when you click on a link for one of my printables that you need to submit a share request. PLEASE only submit one share request per item! These have to be manually confirmed and I will get to them when I get to them. I promise you that sending me 12 requests in rapid succession will not make that happen faster, lol! I do not sit on my computer waiting around to send people instant shares of freebies. Thank you so much for your patience as I try to sort out this latest Google mess.

Good-bye, Sweet Friends

I’ve been doing a little bit of housekeeping this week, finishing up unfinished reviews and things, little bits I promised here or there but never finished.  Here’s a little hint about my character:  if you want me to get something done, give me a firm deadline.;0)

All this is preparation for a little announcement.

I’ve mentioned that I’ve been sick.  Nothing serious, just a little bronchitis that I’m finally getting over.  Dear hubby has been sick, too (it’s hard when both adults want nothing more than to be out cold while the Littles are bouncing off the walls, but I digress).  Don’t worry, no one is seriously ill, we’re just getting over those last annoying coughs

But sometimes interesting things happen when you’re miserable, and last week I was miserable.

God spoke to me last week.

He told me that it was time to pack up my blog.

He told me that my family needs me to not be a blogger right now.

I’m not going to get into the ins and outs or whys or wherefores in great detail.  But I heard Him instantly and understood.  Hubby understood, too, when I told him about it, and agreed.

I don’t want to leave y’all without an explanation, so I’ll leave it at this:  I’m too easily distracted from the important things in life.

One of my bigger distractions is the internet and my blog.  I’ve dreamt about blog posts.  I make mental notes to blog about bits that happen during the day.  Seriously.  Yeah, I’m a little OCD.

And sometimes I even get around to writing those blog posts (ok, I’m a little ADD, too), but post or not, it doesn’t stop me from expending a tremendous amount of time and mental energy on my blog that should be spent elsewhere.

And in the big wide scheme of things, my blog isn’t truly needed in the blogosphere.  It doesn’t matter if I post today, tomorrow, or never.  I won’t be missed.  There’s nothing I’ve said here that hasn’t been said a thousand other ways (better) elsewhere.

But I have been missed at home. I miss me.  I think I’ve forgotten who I am outside of my online persona.

So, at the end of nearly 3 years, I’m hanging up my blogger hat (if there is such a thing), and I’m going out to explore the real wide world.

This blog will remain here as an archive of sorts.  There might be a few worthwhile links and things.

And maybe I’ll be back some day.

Hugs and blessings to you all.  And thank you for reading. :0)

  1. You will be quite missed! Praying for you as you follow God's leading in your life.

  2. I'll miss your posts. Enjoy your family!!

  3. Susan, I'll miss you! Yet I do understand what you're saying. And if God is leading you away from the blog-life right now, then that is what you need to do. Many blessings to you and your family.

  4. Oh Susan,

I totally understand! Sometimes, in fact almost always, there are more important things than the internet.

Please consider returning just to post a photo or two of the kids! You don't have to write anything. You could just title it "4 on the fourth" and try to post every four weeks, on the fourth, or every four months. I will really miss the photos, especially of my God Daughter Mary!

    Love, Jessica

  5. I'll miss reading but totally understand. My blogging has become much less regular in the last several months and it's been great for my family. Enjoy your family!

  6. Modest Mama,
I need to get better about posting pics of the kids on FB. FB is pretty safe for me, I don't seem to get stuck there.

Thank you for your kind words. Anyone looking for kid updates, look on FB. And if you aren't already an FB friend and want to be, send me an email.

  7. I can definitely relate as I go about things a very similar way. Enjoy the extra time with your family.

  8. Understand completely. Will miss you-Kimberly K.

  9. I will miss you too:( And, I totally understand as well. Most of my kids are older, and I sometimes feel awful when they finally leave the room after trying to wait to talk to is a hard thing. Blessings on you and your family and get well!

  10. I'll miss reading here, too. However, when God speaks you should listen.

I can completely relate to being a bit obsessed with blogging at times. I do think about potential posts at times, but figure it's also a different lens for seeing the world.

I'll be following on FB still...

  11. You will be missed, but I totally understand the importance of doing what is right, right now.

  12. As a fellow homeschooler, I will miss the blog, but totally understand. The most important thing is to listen to God and I applaud you for doing so...

  13. Thank you for leaving your blog archive. I understand and support your decision 100%. May the Lord richly bless you in your obedience! (Will miss you, but it has been a blessing to be on the TOS Crew together.)

  14. I really enjoyed following your family through the blog! Know that I will continue to pray for you guys every day.

  15. We will miss you. God bless you on your journey!

  16. don't know if you are still reading your comments. I'm cleaning up my blogs right now and hadn't read yours in awhile.. but i totally get it. God is 'taking me out' in several areas. But it is always sweet when we follow Him :) i left FB and got a call from my mom and my aunt... mom wanted the pictures and aunt wondered if i had de-friended her LOL! no i defriended 350 of my closest friends. I'm still blogging but just a weekly thing ..very low key. trying not to fill it w more cyberspace but fill it w/ more of HIm!!! Blessings!

  17. I am so sorry I'm barely finding you. I came across your flying fish unit study and am hooked! Came here to tell you thank you and found your goodbye. While I completely understand, I do appreciate your time, efforts and talents. Best to you and your family!

  18. Jaime,
Thank you so much for taking a moment to comment. I'm so happy to hear that my Flying Fish are a blessing. ;0)
