Let your 8-year-old follow his dreams, because you never know what he’ll come up with.
Peter has been working diligently on this project for the past week. He storyboarded it, including what sound effects he would need to create. He recruited his siblings to record those sound effects. All the artwork was created in MS Paint. My only contribution was pasting the frames into Movie Maker in the correct order and importing the sound files he had created.
It’s ok to chuckle {wink}, this is not meant to be an entirely serious film.
What do you think?
I think this is a super learning experience for him and could lead in so many directions. It's great for writing, art, creative skills as well as science, computer and engineering. My kids made similar movies last year, and we also learned a bit about Thomas Edison and his moving pictures. - http://highhillhomeschool.blogspot.de/2013/08/thomas-edison-unit-study.html
ReplyDeleteYou may also want to check out Scratch - It's a free computer programming learning tool and perfect for the next step in this type of development. Kids can create movies like the one above, but also video games like pac-man, all while learning computer graphics and programming skills. http://highhillhomeschool.blogspot.de/2012/11/computer-programming-scratch-basics.html
My 8 and 10 year old boys LOVED it!
