Celebrating Weirdness

Because we are all weird and that’s something to be celebrated.

There’s something about being human that seems to make us want to look for sameness in others.  It’s impossible to get inside of someone else’s experience, so we strive to “get” what someone else is going through by relating it to our own experience…it’s like trying to wear someone else’s shoes for a little while.  Except that they don’t fit quite right.

Because people are not the same.  Similar is some ways, yes.  But different in so many wonderful, weird ways.

I’m old enough that I’ve gotten beyond the junior high disease of trying to fit in by pretending I’m just like everyone else.  I’m hopeful that my kids will never really have that disease.

I’m taking a bloggy break this week (yes, this post is brought to you by the technological wonders of blog “scheduling”), but I’m enjoying reading some of my family’s past weirdness.  I hope you enjoy it, too.

The assignment was to use the word “are” in a sentence.

The Passion in Peter’s Eyes

On Daleks, Bobcats, Houseboats, and other things

Delighting in Their Industry

Baby Wrestler

For Us Hard Workin’ Mamas (and Daddies)

What will they think up next?

  1. I know you're on a blogging break and I love that you're putting family first! We have similar ideals and I'm enjoying your blog, with or without printables and freebies, so I've nominated you for the Liebster Award. More info here and enjoy the time with your kiddos!

  2. How sweet! I'll check it out in a bit.
