### FREE Math Mystery E-book for Primary Grades

This week I have two freebies for you, and the first one is extra special!  It’s a math mystery!

About this book: Peter is 7-years-old and a lover of mystery stories! He is not a lover of math. One day he asked me if I’d write him a math mystery, so I made a deal with him---if he would write the mystery part, I would supply the math part. This is our very first Math Mystery and Peter wanted to share it with other kids.

The Case of the Walking Skeleton is a 9-page e-book, which contains a 6-page story with illustrations and 5 word problems suitable for grades 1-3 (addition and subtraction of single digits, but a couple are multi-step).  These are not your typical word problems.  Answers are included.

A note:  this story is written by a 7-year-old who happens to like Scooby-Doo, Encyclopedia Brown, and the Hardy Boys.  It is not a perfectly plotted masterpiece, but it is a lot of fun.

The other freebie this week also involves early elementary math:  full-color, double-sided addition and subtraction cards (click the link to check them out).

These freebies are a gift to you in honor of Release the Butterflies month here at Homeschooling Hearts & Minds.

1. Thank you for sharing these. I clicked on the link to check out the cards, but it takes me right back to the post rather than to the printable.

2. Oops! Thank you for bringing that to my attention. All fixed!

3. I haven't read this with my 7 year old son yet, but wanted to thank you for sharing!

4. Thank you for sharing. I'm printing the book now so my daughter, a LOVER of mysteries, can do this for 'school' tomorrow. ;)

1. I hope she likes it, Kelly. ;)

Thank you for joining the conversation!
